The copy, cut commands allows you to copy or remove the selection from one place and put it on the clipboard.
Paste command can then be used to paste the text selection at another place.

This action will put the selected text into clipboard.

Select the text you want to copy at another location.
|

Click the mouse in the left margin of the words John Smith
This would highlight the words. |

On the ribbon at the top of the window, on the Home tab, in the Clipboard group, click Copy; or press CTRL+C
